Dean Windass Son Scores Wembley Winner

Dean Windass' son scores Wembley winner

Josh Windass emulates his father with dramatic late goal

Sheffield Wednesday striker Josh Windass scored a dramatic late header to win the League One play-off final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, just as his father Dean did for Hull City 15 years and five days earlier.

It was a remarkable moment for the Windass family, with Josh following in his father's footsteps to score a famous goal at the national stadium.

Dean Windass was a key figure in Hull's promotion to the Premier League in 2008, scoring the winning goal in the play-off final against Bristol City.

On Saturday, it was Josh's turn to shine as he headed home in the 93rd minute to give Sheffield Wednesday a 2-1 win over Oxford United and earn promotion to the Championship.

"It's an unbelievable feeling," said Josh after the game. "To score the winning goal at Wembley is something I'll never forget."

"I'm so proud of my dad and what he achieved in his career. It's a special moment for me to be able to follow in his footsteps and score a winning goal at Wembley."

Dean Windass was understandably emotional after seeing his son score the winning goal.

"I'm so proud of him," said Dean. "He's worked so hard for this moment and he deserves all the credit."

"It's a great day for the Windass family and for Sheffield Wednesday.

"These are memories that we'll cherish forever."
